New Orleans: Laker Fest returns with another spectacular celebration
NEW ORLEANS, La.
— New Orleans’ LakerFest returns for its sixth year on Sunday, Aug. 21, with more than 1,200 vendors and more than 500 vendors who will make their way through the city for the festival’s annual summer celebration.
The Lakerfest festivities, which include an after-party at the new Staples Center, are part of the Lakers’ annual Summer League camp in Las Vegas.
Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell and former Lakers guard Mike D’Antoni will be honored for the Lakers organization and for their contributions to the league and the league’s community during the Laker Summer League.
Russell, who played for the Utah Jazz from 1999-2002, will also serve as the keynote speaker for the festivities.
In addition to Russell, the Lakers will honor the following players: Pau Gasol, Pau Gasola, Pau Fisher, Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Durant, D’Andre Jordan, Pau Pierce, Dwayne Wade, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Dwight Howard, Brandon Bass, Julius Randle, Pau Lopez, D.J. Augustin, Zach Randolph, Jordan Clarkson, Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Lowry, Tyreke Evans, Brandon Knight, Pau Harris, Marreese Speights, James Young, Dikembe Mutombo, Josh Smith, Andrew Nicholson, Chris Paul, Kyle O’Quinn and Mike Dunleavy.
Fans will also get to see some of the most talented athletes of the past decade.
Among the highlights of the Lakers Summer League: Russell will be the keynote guest for Lakers practice, and the Lakers are expected to have their first-ever All-Star game at Staples Center.
The Lakers will host the Utah Utes on Saturday, Aug, 21, at 8 p.m. ET.
