Swimming Spa to Englewood to Be Renamed after ‘Spa’ Woman
To mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of a swimming spa in New Jersey, the city is offering a free swimming lesson for two.
The spa, which opened in 1892, became a popular destination for athletes and their families, who often spent weekends at the spa.
The city will donate a large swimming pool for the women to use in the lesson.
It’s an unusual idea for the city, where most swimming pools are privately owned.
It’s a sign of New Jersey’s changing population and changing needs, said John McGlone, the president of the New Jersey Historical Society.
